Life After Dusk
Liv has awakened after decades of cold sleep, only to learn that the world she knew has ended. The ruins are covered in a toxic gas known as ether, which causes horrific mutations when inhaled. Determined to give life another chance, Liv sets out on a journey through the benighted wasteland, dodging bloodthirsty mutants and killer robots along the way, in a desperate gamble to save the future from the endless, lifeless twilight.
Interspersed with Liv’s journey are glimpses into the world before the fall. Witness the birth of Y, progenitor of a new race of people with wondrous abilities, perhaps even the key to eternal life. Experience a never-ending conflict through the eyes of a combat android, forced to fight, kill, die, and fight again, seeking a way to break the cycle and reach the promised heaven beyond. Join a college dropout on a road trip that takes a turn for the nightmarish when he sets foot in an old house that hides a terrible secret. Follow in the footsteps of a young girl, created for a purpose she cannot understand and banished from her home, as she discovers the power hidden within her, and the meaning of her existence. Watch as the forces of humanity and the Children of Y clash in a final, cataclysmic battle.

Douglas Jern was born in Lund, Sweden and lives in Nagoya, Japan, where he makes his living as a translator and writer. He’s still not sure how a decidedly indoors person like himself ever managed to leave his hometown, let alone end up halfway around the world, but it just goes to show that you never know where life will take you.
